NORTHERN NEVADA
Healing through connection — guided by professionals, shaped by the natural environment.
Reins of Hope provides evidence-based equine therapy and animal-assisted interventions for individuals and families seeking support for trauma, anxiety, and emotional challenges. Our work is rooted in clinical care and shaped by the quiet, regulating presence of horses and the natural environment.

At Reins of Hope, our work centers on building meaningful connections—between people, animals, and their own emotional experience.
Located in rural Northern Nevada, Reins of Hope is a therapeutic program offering carefully guided experiences with horses as part of a structured mental health approach. Our sessions are facilitated by licensed mental health professionals in collaboration with equine specialists, creating a setting that is both clinically grounded and deeply human.
For individuals and families who find traditional talk therapy challenging, equine therapy can offer a meaningful path forward.
WHO WE SERVE
Reins of Hope works with individuals and families from a wide range of backgrounds who may benefit from a connection-based therapeutic approach, including:

Veterans and First Responders navigating trauma or high-stress experiences

Children, adolescents, and young adults facing emotional or behavioral challenges

Individuals living with anxiety, depression, or trauma histories

Children and young adults with special needs
Each participant is approached as a whole person. Care is tailored, respectful, and paced to meet individual needs.
What Is Equine Therapy?
Equine therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that incorporates guided interactions with horses into the mental health process. Horses are highly attuned to human emotion and body language, responding honestly and without judgment. This real-time feedback can support emotional awareness, regulation, and trust-building in ways that feel natural and accessible.

At Reins of Hope at JT Ranch, equine therapy is not recreational and it is not riding lessons. Every session is structured and thoughtfully facilitated by licensed mental health professionals working alongside experienced equine specialists.
Participants may engage in ground-based activities, mounted work, or integrated sessions depending on their goals, comfort level, and clinical needs. Riding is never required.

Why Horses?
Horses offer something rare in the therapeutic space: presence without expectation. Their sensitivity to emotional cues allows participants to observe patterns, reactions, and responses as they unfold—often without the pressure of verbal processing. This can support:
Emotional regulation and self-awareness
Confidence and trust-building
Mindfulness and present-moment engagement
A sense of calm and connection
Research has shown equine-assisted interventions can be especially helpful for individuals who struggle to access traditional talk therapy or who benefit from experiential, body-based approaches.

A Therapeutic Setting in Northern Nevada
Reins of Hope operates at JT Ranch, a working ranch established in 2003 and rooted in a lifelong connection to horses and ranch life. The quiet, open landscape of rural Northern Nevada plays an important role in the therapeutic experience, offering space to slow down, regulate the nervous system, and step away from daily pressures.
Healing often begins before a session even starts—simply by arriving in a calm, grounded environment where nature and animals are part of the process.
Taking the Next Step
You don’t need to know yet if equine therapy is the right fit. Many individuals and families begin with questions—and that’s welcome here.
We offer initial conversations to help determine whether Reins of Hope at JT Ranch may be appropriate for your needs, and we are committed to honest guidance, including referrals when another form of care may be a better fit.
